چکیده
Abstract Background Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 1 remains a leading cause of invasive pneumococcal diseases, even in countries with PCV-10/PCV-13 vaccine implementation. The main objective this study, which is part the Pneumococcal African Genome project (PAGe), was to determine phylogenetic relationships isolates recovered from children patients Casablanca (Morocco), compared these other countries; and investigate contribution accessory genes recombination events genetic diversity serotype. Results genome average size six-pneumococcus 2,227,119 bp, content coding sequences 2113, ranging 2041 2161. Pangenome analysis 80 genomes used study revealed 1685 core 1805 genes. tree based on hierarchical bayesian clustering five sublineages phylogeographic structure by country. Moroccan strains cluster two different lineages, clusters altogether divergent clade distantly related non-invasive strain, that all Africa. Conclusions whole sequencing provides increased resolution highly virulent Casablanca, Morocco. Our results are concordant previous works, showing phylogeography S. structured country, despite small (six isolates) sample, our shows cohesion isolates.

Phylogenetic analysis of emergent Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 22F causing invasive pneumococcal disease using whole genome sequencing
Since implementation of the 13-valent polyvalent conjugate vaccine (PCV13) in Canada during 2010, the proportion of PCV13 serotypes causing invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) has declined from 55% (n = 1492) in 2010 to 31% (n = 764) in 2014. A concurrent increase of non-PCV13 serotypes has occurred and 22F has become the most prevalent serotype in Canada increasing from 7% (n = 183) to 11% (n ...
متن کاملMacrolide resistance among invasive Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates.
CONTEXT Macrolide antibiotics, including erythromycin, clarithromycin, and azithromycin, are the mainstays of empirical pneumonia therapy. Macrolide resistance among Streptococcus pneumoniae, the most common cause of community-acquired pneumonia, is increasing in the United States. Whether resistance is a significant problem or whether macrolides remain useful for treatment of most resistant st...

OBJECTIVE To provide guidance for clinical disease prevention and treatment, this study examined the epidemiology, antibiotic susceptibility, and serotype distribution of Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) associated with invasive pneumococcal diseases (IPDs) among children less than 14 years of age in Shenzhen, China. MATERIALS AND METHODS All the clinical strains were isolated from ch...
متن کاملEpidemiological profile of invasive bacterial diseases in children in Casablanca, Morocco: antimicrobial susceptibilities and serotype distribution.
The aim of this prospective study in Morocco was to investigate the causes of invasive bacterial diseases in children in order to inform antibiotic therapy and vaccine choices. Of 238 children aged < or = 5 years admitted to the Children's Hospital of Casablanca for invasive diseases over a 12-month period, 185 were diagnosed with bacterial infection: 76 had chest-X-ray-confirmed pneumonia, 59 ...
متن کاملSerotype and Genotype Distribution among Invasive Streptococcus pneumoniae Isolates in Colombia, 2005–2010
In Colombia, a laboratory-based surveillance of invasive Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates as part of SIREVA II PAHO has been conducted since 1994. This study describes the serotype distribution, antimicrobial resistance, and genetic relationships of pneumococcal isolates recovered in Colombia from 2005 to 2010. In this study, demographic data of invasive S. pneumoniae isolates were analyzed, a...
